Rekaz specialists: add, edit and remove a temporary shift

Last updated: September 22, 2026

A temporary shift records working hours for one date. Use it when a specialist will work an extra day or an exceptional period. Keep the repeating weekly pattern in the work schedule, and check the date before adding the exception.

Specialists → specialist name → + beside the date → Add Shift

Add Shift (+)

Find the date in the specialist’s weekly calendar, open its plus menu and choose Add Shift. Check the specialist’s name in the dialog. Adding a shift is useful for a one-off extra working period.

For example, a specialist who normally works Mondays may agree to work next Thursday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Add that Thursday’s shift instead of enabling Thursday in every week of the recurring schedule.

Shift Date

The form starts with the date whose plus menu you opened. Review the full date, including month and year, and use the calendar field if it needs changing.

The date is part of the new-shift form. Do not assume that the week visible when you opened the profile is the week you intended; a saved shift belongs to the date shown in this field.

Start Time / End Time

Choose the hour, minute and AM/PM for both ends of the shift. The time picker offers minutes in five-minute steps. Review the values rather than accepting the initial 9 AM–5 PM period without checking.

Use the timezone displayed above the specialist’s weekly calendar. The pictured account uses Riyadh (GMT+3). Working hours must make sense in that timezone, including when the person editing is elsewhere.

A shift continuing after midnight

A shift can start in the evening and end the following morning. A 9:00 PM start and 1:00 AM end is an overnight shift, and the saved entry can display “9 PM – 1 AM”.

Check AM/PM before saving: choosing AM for an intended evening end changes the meaning of the period. Reopen the saved shift to confirm the hours instead of reading the smaller clock number as an automatic error.

Add / Cancel / Close

Add saves the shift and returns to the profile. Check that its time badge appears on the intended date. You can also use Schedule Options → View schedules and look under Ad-hoc Shifts.

Cancel or Close exits the new-shift form without adding that draft. If a save has already succeeded, closing a later edit does not remove the saved shift.

Edit Schedule / Edit Shift

Click a temporary shift’s time badge and choose Edit Schedule; the dialog is titled Edit Shift. You can also choose Edit on its Ad-hoc Shifts row in View schedules.

This edit form contains Start Time and End Time, followed by Save and Cancel. It does not show the Shift Date field. Check which dated entry you opened before changing the hours, then reopen it after Save to confirm the result.

Delete Shift

Choose Delete from the temporary shift’s menu or its row in View schedules. The Delete Shift prompt asks for confirmation. Cancel keeps the shift; Delete removes it.

Review the affected date afterward. In a day that has no recurring hours, removing its only temporary shift returns the day to Not Working. A remaining weekly schedule is a separate entry.
