Rekaz services: start intervals, advance booking and cutoffs

Last updated: September 22, 2026

A service’s duration, the spacing of start times and the deadline for booking it are different settings. Configure them together so the times you offer match how you run the service.

Service Reservation → Advanced Settings

Enable Customize Display Time Method

This switch opens the interval used to display possible start times. It does not change the duration entered in Basic Info.

For example, a 60-minute haircut and start times offered every 30 minutes are different choices. A smaller interval provides a finer choice of possible starts; it is not permission to book the same specialist for overlapping appointments.

15, 20, 30 or 60 Minutes

Select one of the displayed intervals. The menu illustrates them with times such as 3:00 pm–3:15 pm and 3:00 pm–3:30 pm. Choose an interval that matches how you want customers to choose appointment starts.

Do not use this field for cleaning time. A 15-minute gap after a service belongs in Buffer Between Slots; a 15-minute display interval concerns the starting times offered.

Custom Duration (in minutes)

Choose Custom to enter a different start interval, such as 25 minutes. This field is in minutes; it does not have the Minute/Hour/Day selector used by the other timing controls.

Enter a positive whole number. Zero is rejected during final creation. If the message says “Duration splitter must be a positive number”, correct this custom interval rather than changing the service price or duration.

Enable Customize Maximum Advance Booking Period

Enable this to limit how far ahead customers can see available appointments. The period input appears below the switch.

Use a period you can plan reliably. If staff schedules are arranged a week at a time, a seven-day window can keep customers focused on the period you are ready to offer.

The period visible to the customer

Enter the number and choose Minute, Hour or Day. For a coming-week window, enter 7 and choose Day. Entering 7 while leaving Minute selected describes a very different window.

Changing the unit keeps the number. Check both together before leaving the field. This period limits how far ahead appointments are shown; it does not create availability outside the selected specialists’ schedules.

Booking Cut-off Time

Enable this to decide when customers must finish booking relative to the appointment’s start. Choose the direction as well as the amount of time.

This is separate from the advance booking window. You may show the coming seven days while requiring each appointment to be booked at least 15 minutes before it starts.

Before slot starts

Use this when you need notice before the appointment begins. With 15 Minute, an appointment starting at 3:00 pm has a cutoff 15 minutes earlier, at 2:45 pm.

Choose enough notice for the preparation you actually need. The cutoff is about accepting the reservation; it does not add 15 minutes to the service duration.

After slot starts

Use this only when the service can accept a booking after the scheduled start. With 15 Minute, the configured window extends 15 minutes beyond the start time.

For a 3:00 pm start, that describes a cutoff at 3:15 pm. It is not a promise to move the service’s end time or give a late arrival the full original duration. Make your arrival instructions clear.

Booking deadline: number and unit

Enter the duration and choose its unit. Check the words beside the input: they confirm whether the duration is before or after the start.

Switching Before to After retains the duration. Review the combination deliberately; the same 15-minute number has the opposite timing effect when you change the direction.

Review values after editing

Turning the advance-period or cutoff switch off and on retains entered values. Clearing the number can also restore the previous value after leaving the field. To change a period, enter the new number explicitly and check it again.

Review all three timing decisions before Create: start interval, future booking window and cutoff. Final creation can reject an earlier invalid interval even when you have already reached Advanced Settings.
