Rekaz expense types: names, descriptions and list controls

Last updated: September 22, 2026

Use expense types to give your team consistent categories for recording costs. Define a clear name and, when helpful, a description of what belongs in it.

Settings → Expense Types, or Orders → Expenses → Expense Type

Expense Type tab

This tab holds the categories used when recording expenses. Creating a type does not record an amount or a payment. For example, create “Care supplies” once, then select it on individual expense records for gloves or disposable covers.

New Expense → New Expense Type

Open the New Expense menu and choose New Expense Type. The main button opens a menu; choose the type option when you want a category, and the expense option when you want to record a particular cost.

Name

Enter the category staff should select when recording an expense. Name is required and allows up to 256 characters. Use a meaningful name such as “Care supplies”, rather than a supplier invoice number that belongs to one transaction.

There is one shared name. Changing the interface language does not translate it, and editing it in another language replaces the same name. Check existing types before adding a similar one so staff do not have to choose between unclear duplicates.

Description

Optionally explain what belongs in this category, up to 1,024 characters. For “Care supplies”, you could write “Disposable supplies used during appointments, such as gloves and single-use covers.” That helps the team separate consumables from equipment purchases. The description appears beside the name in the type list; it is not an amount or a transaction note.

Save

Save creates the type or updates the open type. A missing name or text above either limit keeps the form open with an error beside the affected field. Correct that field and save again. After saving, check the name and description in the list.

Cancel / Close

Close the form without saving the current edits. For an existing type, Cancel keeps its saved name and description. It does not undo an earlier successful save.

Search

Search by the type’s name to narrow the list. Results update after typing. Clear the text to see all types again; searching for an English translation will not find a name that was saved only in Arabic. The count under a filtered list reflects the matching types.

Actions → Edit

Use the three-dot Actions button on the intended row, then Edit. Read both its name and description first, especially when two types have similar names. The name in this list is displayed as text; use the row menu to edit it.

Show: 10, 25, 50 or 100

Set the number of rows displayed per page. This changes the list view, not the number of saved categories. If only a few results match the search, choosing a larger size still shows only those results.

First page

Return to the first page of results. Disabled when already at the beginning.

Previous page

Go back one page while keeping the current search.

Next page

Open the next page when more results are available. It is disabled on a one-page list.

Last page

Go directly to the final page of the current results. It is disabled when no later page exists.

Actions → Delete

Delete opens a confirmation naming the type. This action concerns the category, not an individual expense amount. Read the name carefully; if your intention is to correct a spelling mistake, use Edit instead.

Confirm Delete / Cancel

Confirm Delete removes an unused type from the list. Cancel keeps it. If an error prevents deletion, read the message and check the list before trying again. Do not assume removing a type is a way to remove the expenses recorded under it.
