Use a holiday for an absence or a break on particular dates. Keep the specialist’s normal recurring hours in the weekly schedule, then record the exception here. Check the dates and the Full Day switch together: a whole day away and a one-hour training break need different settings.

**Specialists → specialist name → Schedule Options → Add Holiday**

## Add Holiday

Open the specialist’s profile and choose Schedule Options → Add Holiday. Check the specialist’s name in the dialog before saving. This form records time off for the selected specialist.

For example, use it for a training session next Thursday rather than removing Thursday from every week of the normal working schedule.

## Start Date / End Date

Choose the first and last dates affected by the holiday. Use the same date for one day. The end-date calendar does not allow dates before the selected start date; review both dates after changing the range.

For a two-day absence, select both days and leave Full Day on. For a short break on each of those dates, turn Full Day off and set the time period. The two choices describe different availability.

## Full Day

Leave this on when the absence applies to the entire selected day or days. Turn it off when the specialist is away for only part of the day; Start Time and End Time then appear.

Turning Full Day on hides the time fields. If you turn it off again, the times reset to 12:00 AM and 11:55 PM. Re-enter the intended hours before saving a short break; the earlier 3–4 PM choice is not restored.

## Start Time / End Time

For a partial-day holiday, choose the hour, minute and AM/PM in each time picker. Minutes are available in five-minute steps. Check the period as carefully as the number: 3:00 AM is not an afternoon break.

For training from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, enter those two times and leave Full Day off. Review the duration sentence below the fields, then save.

## When the time range is rejected

On the same start and end date, End Time must be later than Start Time. A 3:00 PM start with a 2:00 PM end shows “End time must be after start time” and does not save.

Correct the mistaken time or AM/PM choice. The duration sentence can still display the invalid values you entered, so read the validation message as well; a displayed sentence does not mean the form was accepted.

## Partial-day holiday across several dates

The same time period appears on each date in the range. A break dated September 17–18, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, is shown at 3–4 PM on both September 17 and September 18.

This is useful for a short training session held at the same time on consecutive days. Use Full Day when the specialist is absent for the whole day, and review the resulting calendar entries after saving.

## Holiday Type

Choose Vacation, Sick Leave, Personal Leave, Break, Public Holiday or Other to describe the absence. Use Break for a short pause and a more specific leave type when that is the reason.

The choice identifies the entry in the calendar; the date and time fields determine the period you are entering. Selecting Break does not enter a one-hour duration for you.

## Description

This optional note helps your team recognize the entry. “Team training, 3–4 PM” is more useful than “Unavailable” when several exceptions are listed together.

Keep the note brief and operational. The saved description appears in the holiday list, so use enough detail to distinguish the entry without writing personal or medical details.

## Save / Cancel / Close

Save stores a valid holiday and closes the form. Open Schedule Options → View schedules to confirm its dates and times under Holidays. The calendar also shows the holiday on its affected dates.

Cancel or Close exits the form. In an edit, Cancel leaves the previously saved holiday in place; it does not delete it. Reopen the entry if you are unsure which values were saved.

## Edit a saved holiday

In View schedules, find the holiday by its description and dates, then choose that row’s Edit. Change the needed fields and save. Check the holiday row rather than the separate Work schedules row above it.

Review the dates and Full Day setting even when changing only the description. Reopening the saved entry is a useful final check when an absence spans several days.

## Delete Holiday

Choose Delete on the holiday’s row, then read the Delete Holiday confirmation. Cancel keeps it. Confirm Delete only when that time-off entry should be removed from this specialist.

After removal, review the calendar again. Removing a holiday does not create working hours where no weekly schedule or shift exists.
